  • An interpreter translating Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's speech broke down on-air.
  • The female translator was heard pausing and choking up while conveying Zelensky's words.
  • Zelensky was speaking of how Ukraine had survived another day of Russian attacks.

An interpreter for a German news outlet was heard breaking down on-air while translating Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's speech on Sunday.

In a video of the speech, the unidentified interpreter for Welt is heard translating into German a part of Zelensky's speech in which he said: "Russia is on the path of evil. The world must deprive Russia of the right to vote on the UN Security Council."

The interpreter then slows down and chokes up while delivering the lines: "Ukrainians, we know exactly what we are defending. We will definitely win."

Zelensky was addressing Ukrainians after several cities came under attack on Saturday night.

"Last night was brutal in Ukraine. Again, the shelling, again the bombing of residential areas and civilian infrastructure," Zelensky said.

"We will fight as long as it takes to liberate the country. If children are born in shelters, even when the shelling continues, then the enemy has no chance in this — undoubtedly — people's war. To victory! Glory to Ukraine!" he added.

Citing Ukraine's Interior Ministry, the Associated Press reported that 352 Ukrainians have died during Russia's invasion of the country. In a separate interview with the AP, Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said the Ukrainian capital was "encircled."

Ukraine's second-largest city, Kharkiv, is also under siege, and its 1.4 million residents have been asked to take shelter.
